Spelling Bee

In sixth grade, I (along with my classmates) participated in our class spelling bee.  The winner would go onto compete with the other class champions in hopes to reach the district spelling bees.

I'm up there.  I'm ready to spell.

Mrs. Hannah gives me my word.

Although.

Hmmm.  Although?  That seems like a pretty easy word, Mrs. Hannah.
I thought these would be single words, but whatev.

A-L-L (space) T-H-O-U-G-H.  Yup, I said the "space."

"Uhhhh, no" was Mrs. Hannah's response.

Blast.
I should have asked her to use the word in a sentence!!

My spelling bee dreams were officially over.

Moving on.

Scripps National Spelling Bee has come and gone this year.  These kids really and truly amaze me.  I don't typically tune into ESPN for the live action - but I do get quite a kick out of the highlight reels they put together showcasing the "best moments" of the Bee.

I must say, these spelling bee kids are amazing, but are certainly a different breed of... something.

I'm sorry, but these kids are in dire need of social interaction (with someone other than their parents), as well as some serious social skills intervention.

After reading about this year's winner, I remembered around this time last year when I saw some pretty hysterical video clips and montages of "memorable moments" of past Bees.

Take a look.  You shall see what I mean...

You could cut the tension with a knife.
Need I say anything more?

Sheesh.  S-H-E-E-S-H.  Sheesh!
Take Luck,
LP

  1. Your highlight reels were hilarious. I loved them. My word I remember bombing is "wince." I spelled it with an "s." I distinctly remember my teacher wincing after I spelled it!
