Dreams (Part 2)

The vivid and bizarre dreams just keep on coming.  Back in June (which feels like forever ago) I shared with you some of the weird dreams I'd been having.

Today is your lucky day, 'cuz here's some more:

- Kittens were coming out of a hole in the wall.  This would be odd enough in itself, but it gets better.  The kitties were an assortment of neon blue, neon green, striped neon blue and white, and a lonely (and normal) gray.

- This one is recurring.  I dream that I fail to completely stop at a stop sign and there happens to be a police officer who is watching me.  Apparently I have a guilty conscious while sleeping because I then speed away (and am apparently close to a highway).  Once on the highway, I fail to slow down enough to take a turn and my car flips off of the highway and onto the ground below.  When approached by the police officer, I deny any wrongdoing.

- In some city, Ryan and I are sitting in the Forester.  Just then, a huge (OK, giant) semi-truck busts through the concrete highway barrier and is literally falling/flying right toward us.  The truck crushes the car completely, but we manage to survive and get out of the car.  Somehow we were oblivious to the fact that the city around us was turning to shit as people are not alive but not dead.  Zombie-esqe, if you will.  We run to a near by building to hide and discover that just by pushing the buildings - we can rearrange the layout of the city and therefore hide from this chaos.  Finally, we grow tired of hiding and decide that we should get back to a car (any car) and drive away.  As if by magic, we see that the Forester has resumed her pre-giant-semi-truck-crushing state but is being inhabited by the crazies.  We then start a huge fire to serve as a distraction and run away.

I'd love to talk to a dream analyst and figure out what the heck all of this means - if anything.

I am having no issues sleeping (obviously!) and we still have four months to go, people.  I can't imagine what this noodle will dream up next.

Stay tuned.

I've Always Wanted To...

Day 6 of Sar's 15 Day Challenge is upon us, and the prompt is: What's something you've always wanted to do but haven't?  Why not?

I've always wanted to go and travel Europe.

Source

And why haven't I embarked on this journey?  For several reasons.

[1] It's expensive to take the kind of country-hopping-trip I want to take.

[2] A country-hopping trip of this magnitude would require lots of time off of work.

[3] This avacado-sized baby (that I've heard turns into a real, human baby) in my tummy puts any plans for an extended European adventure on serious delay.

Someday, I hope this trip will happen - even if it's after our kids are grown and we are retired.  I'm keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed.

Table for Five

Day five's prompt in Sar's 15 Day Challenge is: If you could have dinner with any five people, who would they be?

This is easy, and requires a small amount of cheating.

The guest of honor would be my Grammy.

Isn't she beautiful?
Other guests at the table would be Ryan, my parents, Rachel, and me (of course!).

I would give anything to have the chance for Grammy and Ryan to meet.  I know they would love each other and the rest of us would jump at the chance to talk to her again.

Now I'll stop there before the water works get going.

Six Word Memoirs

Day 2 of Sarah's 15 Day Challenge and the prompt is this: Write a [few] six word memoirs[s].

Here goes.

I struggled with this for many moments this morning.  When I think of a memoir - I think of an autobiography.  Some truly classy memoirs that come to mind are "Don't Pee on My Leg and Tell Me It's Raining" by Judge Judy and "Don't Hassel the Hoff" by David Hasselhoff.

Others include Tina Fey's "Bossypants," Ellen Degeneres's "Seriously... I'm Kidding," and Chelsea Handler's "Are You There Vodka?  It's Me, Chelsea."

As I thought a little more about this, I thought about what my autobiography/memoir might be called - should I ever write one.  I tried and tried to find a deep and meaningful six words, but I just couldn't.  I kept going back to humor.  So, that's the approach I took to this.  Most of these gems require a subtitle/text of some sort (which of course I've included!).

I swear some of these memoirs could fit at various points of any day, and that's what makes them perfect.  Enjoy.

[1] The Dog Eats Better Than Me
(Our journey with canine food allergies)

[2] Stop Clipping Your Fingernails at Work
(And other pet peeves)

[3] A Little Tomboy Becoming a Mama
(If it's a girl - Lord help her)

[4] Buy This Girl a Joke Book
(Dreams of becoming a comedienne)

And say, if my dreams of becoming a comedienne do come true - perhaps these could also work as my comedy bit titles?  We shall see, friends.

Dreams

I have always had vivid dreams.  Or, so I thought.  Apparently, I didn't know vivid until I became pregnant.

Not only have my dreams been vivid, but they've been weird.  Bizarre, even.  Let me enlighten you.

-  Right after we found out - I dreamed that Ryan was not only accusing me of not really being pregnant, but insisting that "my ovaries probably don't even work!"  Huh?

- Ryan and I were running a choose-your-own obstacle course.  One moment we would be running and obstacle-coursing together than then the next, Ryan would be gone.  This obstacle course involved crawling through a building without being seen, jumping off a cliff, and zip-lining over a ravine.  In the dream, Cara, Webb, and Liam picked us up when we finished the course (and Ryan and I were magically reunited).  Here's where it got really weird.  We stopped at a gas station.  Ryan, Cara, and Webb all got out of the car - leaving me alone with Liam.  While everyone was in the car, Liam was baby-babbling away.  As soon as it was just me and him, he turned his head and clear as day said, "Hi."  He continued to name all the members of our family and then recited the books of the bible.  Yeah.  I could not make this stuff up, people.

- Ryan and I bought a new, beautiful house that was on a lake.  Little did we know, there was a underground grocery store being run underneath this house.  When we discovered it, the shoppers were looking at us like we were the ones out of place.

- At one point I dreamed that I was inside an ultrasound.  Like, Magic School Bus style - I was inside my own uterus with a front row view of our baby.  Baby was a boy.

- I recently dreamed that I was playing second base for the St. Louis Cardinals.  For whatever reason, Mike Matheny decided that I was the best gal for the job.  I kept telling him that I'm a softball player... Not a baseball player.  He ignored me, and in the dream I made a complete fool of myself and was booed by the fans.

- Don't worry.  Because the next night I totally redeemed myself by pitching for the Los Angeles Dodgers.  As in, the pitching I did all through high school - not overhand.  I was smokin' and sitting them down left and right.  Take that, Cardinals fans!

- After Rachel and my cousin Kristen ran the Seattle Rock 'n Roll Marathon - I dreamed the three of us were running a marathon in San Fransisco until a rampant tornado destroyed the city.  And we walked back to Seattle.

So, there you have it.  Totally bizarre, no?

Something tells me this will Part 1 of a series of crazy-pregnancy-dream posts.

Love Letter

My Dearest,

I am going against your wishes and advice in posting this, because apparently it would make a killer movie plot.

I am not so sure.  In some circles it may sound totally and utterly crazy.

This morning, after I dropped you off at work (at, ahem, 5:10), I came back home and hopped back into bed.  I then began dreaming one of the craziest and most vivid dreams ever.

Here goes.

Mom, Dad, you and I were in Oklahoma City watching SIU softball in a hugely massive softball stadium that was apparently built right in the middle of downtown.  There is a large steel fence that surrounded the ballpark.  Out of nowhere, a giant tornado started making its way directly toward the stadium.

The announcer told everyone to get out of the stands and to sit on the concrete in between the steel fence and the stadium, but to NOT hold onto the fence.  The beastly tornado kept on coming.  We see an airplane flying in and it gets taken out by the tornado, and explodes.  The exploding airplane is now coming right for us, along with the tornado.

The bad news is, the firey airplane hurled into us and we died instantly.

We were are all immediately reincarnated into somewhat mythological creatures.  You became a jaguar/cheetah cat.

I became a shape-shifting humaoid-fox (not humanoid-fox like a hot and sexy humanoid, or Megan Fox, but a humanoid-mammal thing).  I can't recall what Mom and Dad were.

Anyway, when we reincarnated, we were under the ground, deep in the earth.  I don't know how but we were able to dig our way out and ultimately rise up.  Our digging didn't seem to take us very long, but when we surfaced many years had gone by.

The (seemingly) cool thing was that when we appeared on the surface, we were human again.   We were trying to tell everyone that we were killed in the massive tornado/airplane explosion.  It seemed to scare some folks.

I wonder why?

The really sad thing was that when we appeared on the surface, you had no idea who I was or any recollection of being my husband. You had on your wedding ring, but couldn't think of what your wife looked like or who she was.

She was standing right in front of you!!

 You were also a dentist.

I woke up sweating, breathing hard, and thinking, "W.T.F?" (and certainly not in a what the feebdack context).

Craziness, I tell ya.

Quite frankly, I can't imagine it would be very successful in the box office.  But, I appreciate your enthusiasm and support.

Here's to hoping that you would remember I am your wife if we are ever faced with a natural disaster or crazy-terrible-airplane-exploding accident.

Take Luck,
LP
