[4] Hot days are more than OK with me.  The dry heat of the PNW is way more tolerable than the hot and humid Midwest.

[5] My go to uniform on a warm summer day is a light cotton tank and flowy skirt or a maxi dress. And flippy flops.

[6] The scent that reminds me of summer is fresh cut grass, charcoal, and sunscreen.

[7] My favorite thing about summer is how late it stays light.  This summer I'm almost always long asleep before it gets dark, but I still love it.

I have four (or so) hours to kill at the airport before my flight leaves, and I couldn't think of a better way to kill that time.

[1] The age I will be on my upcoming birthday is 27.  Goo!

[2] The best birthday present ever would be an all expenses paid trip to the Mediterranean.  A girl can dream, right?

[3] My favorite birthday to date was undetermined.  I can't even remember my birthday last year, let alone any others.  I'm sure they were all lovely.  Except my 19th... See below.

[4] Birthday's make me feel awkward.  I do not like being the center of attention and seriously dread being sung, "Happy Birthday."

[5] The worst birthday I ever had was my 19th birthday, my freshman year of college.  It was my first away from my family, still trying to adjust to college and being away from home.  It was just hard.  On the bright side, it was at 19 that I could legally get into the bars in Southern Illinois.  Ha!

[6] When I was born it capped off a 40+ hour labor for my Momma.  Poor, poor Momma.

[7] So far my favorite age has been 26. It's been a very exciting year for us!

Filling in some blanks with Lauren

[1] The best surprise ever would be Ryan planning an elaborate trip for us.  It wouldn't even have to be elaborate - even just a day trip would be fabulous.  This would never happen.

[2] Walking down the aisle to Ryan at our wedding is my most favorite memory.  So far.

[3] The hardest but most worthwhile thing I have ever done was moving 2,500 miles away from home/Washington to go to college at Southern Illinois and not knowing a soul.

[4] The best part of my day is right when I get home from work and I get to decide what's on the TV for a few short moments.

[5] Something I like that most people don't is Pauly Shore movies.

[6] Something I am willing to fight for is my marriage and my family.

[7] Something you might not know about me is I have never seen Star Wars.

Fill in the Blank Friday

Filling in some blanks with Lauren... And trying not to drool over the doughnut.

[1] Something that is very near and dear to my heart is making the most of each day and letting those you love know you love and appreciate them.  They go hand-in-hand in my book.

[2] Being alive and living life! is good cause to celebrate.

[3] The most fun I ever had was at our wedding.  We boogied, sang, and filled the air with love.

[4] True friends are those that it doesn't matter how much time lapses between your visits/time together... Everything picks up where you left off last.

[5] Something that makes me terribly happy is making Ryan laugh.  It's terrible how happy that makes me.

[6] A good way to spend a sunny day is spending lots of time outside, taking the puppies for a walk, BBQ'ing, and drinking fancy drinks.

[7] My favorite celebratory food is ice cream and cheesecake.  I am good at finding any excuse for eating ice cream.

Fill in the Blank Friday

Happy Friday, all!  Filling in some health-themed blanks with Lauren.  This is entirely appropriate since I feel like da-doo-doo.

[1] On a scale from 1-10 the frequency with which I get sick is a 6 or 7.  I have a really lame immune system and catch lots of sickness.  This sickness I have now is courtesy of my favorite husband.

[2] The last time I felt sick was .... Oh, yeah!  Today!!  The crud started yesterday and is rolling right along with no regard for the lovely, lovely weather we are having.

[3] The worst part about being sick is feeling totally drained of energy because all I want to do is lay on the couch, cover myself with a blanket, and sleep it all off.

[4] When I am sick I like to be taken care of by being brought warm bowls of soup, juice, and any other random thing I might ask for.  Hugs and love pats from Ryan are always welcome, too.

[5] Something I do to keep myself healthy is eat pretty well, drink lots of water, exercise, and get lots of rest.

[6] A secret remedy I use when I'm sick is to sleep as much as possible, drink fluids, eat whatever sounds/tastes good, and hot showers.  I try not to take over-the-counter medicine unless I'm really, really struggling.

[7] One thing that always makes me feel better when I'm sick is chicken noodle soup.

Not only do I feel like da-doo-doo today, but I also have my six month dental cleaning/check-up today.  Can the day get any better?

Fill in the Blank Friday

Hooray for Friday!  As usual, I'm filling in some blanks with Lauren!

[1] My bedtime routine includes washing my face, contacts out, glasses on, brushing teeth, flossing, night lotion on, taking vitamin, grabbing a fresh bottle of water, hopping in bed, and continuing to find the cold spots in the bed until sleepy time.

[2] I am super sleepy lately.  I slept for 12 hours last night and could have slept 4 or 5 more, fo sho.

[3] I can't stand Styrofoam because it makes horrible, horrible sounds.

[4] My idea of relaxation would be sitting on a quiet and secluded beach with my tootsies in the sand and a reading a good book.

[5] If I had an extra $50 I would go buy more maxi dresses.  They are my weakness right now.

[6] The best thing about a bloggy friend is they can be supportive and caring even when they only know part of a story.  I also feel like I get to know these people through the stories they share, and I hope they feel like they get to know me through my stories and rambling too.

[7] A recipe I've been dying to try is this white chicken enchiladas with green chili sour cream sauce.

Fill in the Blank Friday

It's Friday and I'm filling in some blanks with Lauren!  Hooray!

[1] Today is great because it's Friday.  Duh.

[2] Tomorrow I will thoroughly enjoy sleeping in and relaxing.

[3] My favorite time of the day is the morning because that's when I get to decide how I'm going to make the most of the day ahead.

  [4] Sometimes you just have to sing it loud and proud.  It's more fun that singing quietly... Even if it annoys your husband.

[5] A song that I just can't get enough of lately is Addicted by Morgan Page (feat. Greg Laswell).

[6] My favorite accessory is my wedding ring(s).  I'm not much of an accessorize-r, otherwise.

[7] My favorite thing about this week was celebrating. Our friends welcomed their baby boy, Alexander James on Monday, and my Daddio turned the big 6-0 yesterday!

Fill in the Blank Friday

Hooray for Friday!  Time to fill in some blanks with Lauren!

[1] Today is a good day because it's my regular day off work!  Nothing says "good day" like sleeping in and being lazy.

[2] The best thing I did all week was finish my final rotation at work.  Come June 15th, I will no longer be dragging the "intern" connotation around with me.

[3] The current weather is sunny and it makes me feel happy, happy, happy!

[4] The best thing about spring is the blooming trees and flowers, warmer temperatures, and blue sky.

[5] A fashion trend that I am dying to try out for spring is wearing bright(er) colors than I would normally wear.  This goes for patterns too.  I need my best friend Tiff to come style me.

[6] A person who made me smile this week was our families.  We all did a lot of smiling and laughing this week.

[7] The most delicious thing I ate all week is a tie between the chocolate chip cookies and the Chicken Parmesan I made.  Both were highly delicious... And I'm really wishing I had some more of them cookies right about now!

Heading up north this weekend with my Mom and baby sissy to a tulip festival.  Hoping to return with lots of photos and stories to share!

Fill in the Blank Friday

Another Friday is here again.  I cannot believe that it is almost April!

Time to fill in some blanks with Lauren!

[1] My greatest strength is looking at the positive or bright-side of things.

[2] My greatest weakness is getting or feeling overwhelmed and anxious.

[3] People always compliment me on looking young/youthful.  A lady at work asked me this week if I was married.  I said, "Yes."  She said she didn't think I was old enough to be married.  I asked how old she thought I was... And she said 20.  I know I will appreciate this more later in life.

[4] If you found me procrastinating you'd probably find me stretched out on the couch with a blanket over my head.  I figure if I can't see what I'm supposed to be doing - maybe it will just go away.  This never happens as I always getting my caboose off the couch and conquer.  I am not a good procrastinator.

[5] The most cozy place in all the world is our bed.  Memory foam mattress topper = Heaven.

[6] Something new that I tried recently was procrastinating.  I tried to intentionally ignore and put off homework and looming a project, but I caved.  Like I said, I'm not good at that.

[7] This weekend I would like to make the most of the time we have with Ryan's parents while they are in town visiting.  We have a whole week, but Hubby and I tend to be baked potatoes on the weekdays.

Now, please excuse me while I go and clean this house!

Fill in the Blank Friday

It's Friday!  And this day could not have come any sooner.  I'm filling in some color-themed blanks with Lauren.  This is totally appropriate because I'm taking a break from painting our now wallpaper-less foyer!

[1] My favorite color is green.  And certain shades of purple.

[2] My home decor palette includes neutral, earth tone colors.  I just painted our previously green-floral-wallpaper foyer an earthy-brown "Caramelized Onion" color, courtesy of Lowe's and Valspar.

[3] Other people always tell me I look good in the color green.  They say it brings out my eyes.  'Tis true.

[4] The color I detest is pink.  I have never been a pink kinda gal.

[5] If you were to look in my closet most of the colors you'd see would be green, purple (dark), blue, and grey.

[6] A color that I cannot pull off no matter how hard I try is pink.  Maybe this is because I do not like wearing this color and whenever I try, my face contorts into a "I don't do pink" kind of look.  Maybe I should just stop trying.

[7] The color of my favorite dress is a floral red-blue-yellow-cream with a black satiny "belt" that ties into a bow.  That reminds me I need to do some dress shopping.  I really want a maxi dress, but am afraid it will look hideous.  I guess this is where fitting rooms are appropriate?

Fill in the Blank Friday

Hooray for Friday!  Time to fill in some blanks with Lauren.

[1] My favorite room in my home is the living room because its where we spend most of our time.  We bought our sectional couch so we could all be comfy-cozy together while lounging.

[2] My current decor style is a work in progress, but I wish it were more put together.  I see things and styles that I love on blogs, Pinterest, and in magazines - but I don't have the time, energy, or motivation to focus on anything.  It's on my (growing) to-do list!

[3] I wish I could redecorate every room in my house to make it more modern.  Our house was built in the 60's and while there is nothing we HAVE to change, there is something in every room that I would LIKE to change or update.

[4] My dream house absolutely has to have an open kitchen, a bathroom off the master bedroom, a fenced-in backyard, and a man cave... So Ryan will stop whining.

[5] One house item I am will to splurge on is major home updates.

[6] A decor trend that I just don't "get" is having a room that is purely for show - one that isn't lived in.  This may not count as a trend, but it is certainly something I've never understood.

[7] Pictures, photographs, and personal items are little touches that make my house feel like a home.

Another Friday, here at last. It's time to fill in some love-themed blanks with Lauren.

[1] The love of my life is my honey bunches of oats, Ryan.

[2] Falling in love is something that I don't think happens just one time in a relationship.  You fall in love in the beginning, and then again, again, and again with new things in that relationship.

[3] Marriage is an adventure.  A mighty fine one.  It's an adventure in learning, listening, compromising, trusting, and being reminded of why you both said, "I do."

[4] The longest relationship I've ever had was is this one!

[5]  The key to a good relationship is forgiveness, trust, listening, and knowing when to keep quiet.

[6] I feel loved when Ryan does something unexpected.  Even if he's leaving the room and gives me a top-of-the-head or forehead kiss.  OK, let's be honest.  Especially when he does that.

[7] My favorite quote about love is, "Love is friendship set on fire."

Friday, here at last!  Time to fill in some blanks with Lauren!

[1] I started my blog because I enjoy writing, and it allows me to look back on our life and experience stories all over again.

[2] One thing I love seeing on other blogs is honesty in stories.  Life isn't always clean, pretty, and fields of daisies.  I like to read stories that are real.

[3] Something I love about blogging is being able to be me, say what I think and feel (no matter how drenched in sarcasm), and just put it all out there.  I also love that I can share stories about my funny Hubby that can be used for blackmail someday.

[4] A favorite blog post of mine is probably Hopeful from Sar's 15 day challenge, stuff my three-year old niece says , a look back at 2011, that time a bird flew into our house, and stuff my dad says.

[5] Something my friends in real life know about me what I've never before mentioned on my blog is I moved 2,500 miles away from home to play softball at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.  I know I've said that I went to school and played ball there, but I don't think I explicitly said how far away from home I moved. 

[6] My new favorite blogs to read are  Pregnant Chicken, Tiny Twig Goes Out on a Limb, and Bleubird Vintage.

[7] Some things I tend to avoid doing on my blogs are being overly negative, rambling, and complaining.  Sometimes that doesn't work out so well.

Fill in the Blank Friday

Friday is here at last, here at last!!

[1] My favorite place I've ever traveled to is St. Lucia.

[2] Anywhere in Europe is somewhere I would like to go someday.

[3] I pass the time on a plane (or bus, or car ride or train) by reading, listening to music, or sleeping.  I can sleep anywhere.

[4] My three must-haves when I travel are my itinerary, iPod, and Nook.

[5] My favorite travel companion is my Hubby, Ryan.

[6] The craziest thing that ever happened while traveling was when I was trying to fly home one Christmas from college.  My flight home to Seattle kept getting delayed and delayed due to weather, and ultimately cancelled.  I went to the ticket-counter-lady and was emotional/crying (works every time), it struck a Mommy-cord in her so she put me on a different flight.  However, this flight was horrible.  We landed safely in Seattle, but I do not know how.  It was the most turbulent and unbalanced landing ever.  I debated kissing the ground when I stepped in the terminal, but I was still trying to keep from peeing my pants.

[7] The most exotic food I've ever tried while traveling is chicken creole in St. Lucia.

Fill in the Blank Friday

Another Friday is here and you'll hear no complaints from me!

Filling in some blanks with Lauren!

[1] The last thing I ate was a bowl of Special K Red Berry cereal.

[2] The last song I listened to was Hurt So Good by John Mellancamp.

[3] Using the letters in my name I can spell [Lauren] run, ran, lure, lunar, are, ear, urn, lane, real, near, learn, lean... I'm tired.

[4] If I had to dress in one color for the rest of my life I would pick purple.  Green.  No, purple.  OK, green.  Hopefully I'm never truly faced with this decision.

[5] If you were to look in my bag right now you'd find an Erin Condren planner, my wallet, chapstick, throat lozenges, keys, and some gloves.

[6] When I finish filling in the blanks I'm going to grab a fleecey blanket, my puppies, and curl up into a ball on the couch.

[7] My all time favorite song to dance to is Thriller (Michael Jackson) and Can't Touch This (MC Hammer).  Apparently I'm indecisive today.

Fill in the Blank Friday

It's Friday!  Time to fill in some blanks with Lauren.

[1] One of my favorite things to do when I have free time is absolutely nothing.  I love curling up on the couch or in bed with a snuggly blanket, puppies, Hubby and a book or the laptop.

[2] When I have free time I tend to find things to make it so my "free time" is occupied by studying, cleaning, organizing, or some other domestic-goddess duty - instead of curling up on the couch or in bed with a snuggly blanket, puppies, Hubby and a book or the laptop.

[3] If I had an entire day completely to myself I would sleep in, soak in a bubble bath, read a book, drink a vanilla latte, have lunch at Panera Bread Co., take an afternoon nap, watch a "chick flick" or two, bake, and eat ice cream.  Lots of mint chocolate chip ice cream.

[4] I would prefer to spend my free time (alone or with others...) Both.  I love spending my free time with Ryan or friends and family, but sometimes I really do enjoy spending some free time alone.

[5] Most of my free time happens on my Fridays off and the weekends.  Glorious, glorious days!

[6] The best thing about free time is it's free!  You can do whatever you want.

[7] The next time I have free time I should probably soak it up and enjoy being "bored" but I'll probably keep myself busy with something... And then regret it later.

Fill in the Blank Friday

The last Friday of 2011!  Time to fill in some New Year blanks with Lauren.

[1] New Years is refreshing.  A new year, with new resolutions to keep (or try!), and new things to look forward to.

[2] One of my New Year's resolutions will be to walk the dogs more consistently.  At least four times a week.

[3] A New Year's resolution that I've made in the past was to order water instead of soda when dining out.  It didn't work out all that well.  I'll try again this year!

[4] The most time consuming resolution I ever made was obediently following Tony Horton and the P90x workout.  I hate you, Tony.

[5] This year I will be spending New Year's Eve with my favorite Hubby, and our friends Matt and Jessica.  Gonna get all gussied up, have dinner and then play some games.  We're wiiiild.

[6] If I could wish one thing for the new year it would be to make the most of each day.

[7] 2012 is going to be the end of my internship, another year closer to graduate school graduation, and full of other (hopefully) great things!!

Fill in the Blank Friday

Since I didn't work a single day this week, I had to be reminded by my Hubby that today is Friday.

Time to fill in some blanks with Lauren!

[1] The best way to spread Christmas cheer is "... by singing loud for all to hear!"  Duh.  Buddy the Elf, what's your favorite color??  I could go on and on. 

[2] The thing I love most about Christmas is Christmas trees, Christmas lights, and giving gifts.

 [3] The holiday season is time for love, family, sharing, celebrating, and thinking of others. 

[4] My favorite thing to eat at the holidays is Grammy's salad and puppy chow. 

[5] I will be spending Christmas with my Hubby and family.  Christmas Eve will be at my aunt and uncle's, then Ryan, Brock, Sonny and I will be having a slumber party at my parents' so we are ready for stockings and gifts on Christmas morning! 

[6] Tis better to (give or receive?) Give.  I love trying to find special gifts for our family (sometimes too much), and I usually have a hard time keeping my secrets... Secrets. 

[7] I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.  Not likely.

Fill in the Blank Friday

It feels like I was just filling in last weeks blanks.

Oh, well!  It's Friday and time to fill in some more with Lauren!

[1] My most favorite "little thing" is when my niece, Kennedy, and nephew, Riley run and give me hugs.  Heart melting - engaged.

[2] I give anything to get a back rub from Hubby.

[3] I can't believe that it's only 9 days until Christmas.  Where does the time go?

[4] The one thing I'd like to achieve today is watch the Netflix movie (Lincoln Lawyer) that's been sitting on our TV stand for the last few days.

[5] The last thing I want to do today is think about work.  Or school.  Oh, wait.  I just did.  Darnit!

[6] If I were writing my own blank today, it would say: I am most looking forward to giving my sister-in-law his/her gift because it is special, sentimental, and something I hope she likes half as much as I hope she will.

[7] My favorite candle scent is the tangerine-orange-lemongrass I recently bought from Pike Place Market.  Heavenly.

Fill in the Blank Friday

This has been an extremely long week and I am so happy that it's Friday!  Time to Fill in the Blanks with Lauren.

[1] Love is wonderful.  Especially when you find the perfect person to share it with.

[2] Being in love feels like magic.  The most magical moments being the little ones that make your relationship yours.

[3] My favorite quote about love is "Love is friendship set on fire." 

[4] The most important thing in a relationship is communication, flexibility and understanding.  That's more than one thing.  But the success of a relationship can't be defined by one element.

[5] A "deal breaker" for me in a relationship is someone unwilling to put in the effort when its due.

[6] The way I show love in my relationship is by doing the little things.  I leave notes in Ryan's lunches and separate his clean laundry into piles so they are easier for him to put away.  I sit with him and watch endless hours of ESPN.  I give him big hugs, even if he's just leaving the room.

[7] I love making Ryan laugh.  And Ryan.
