Zoey is THREE

Our little firecracker is three years old and you guessed it - I cannot believe it.

Weight: 28 pounds 6 ounces (28th percentile)
Height: 35.8 inches (22nd percentile)

She is still this petite little thing, but I promise you that there is so much life and exuberance packed into every inch of her.  Her three-year well check sounded a lot like her two-and-a-half-year well check: she's tiny with above average speech and below average bowel movement frequency.

- Favorite songs to sing (aka belt out at the top of her lungs) are "A Million Dreams" from The Greatest Showman, Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus, and Crazy Girl by The Eli Young Band

- Favorite show is still Bubble Guppies and she is always requesting to watch "Hall-weeeeen Gubba Guppies"

- Favorite movies are The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast

- She's started the bedtime stall tactics and those have only increased since she's now sharing a room with Bubba.  My favorite is when she says "but Mommy, I just want to touch your hair."

- Asks so many questions and most of them start with, "but why, Mama?"

- Loves gymnastics and has transitioned really nicely from the tots class (with a parent down on the floor with her) to the regular toddler/kids class

- She tried ballet for one class but it was too slow for her style

- Still a fearless little thing.  As evidenced in gymnastics when she barrels down the tumble track and then leaps into the pit

- Not only is she fearless but she is tough!  She just wants to keep up with her big brother

- Potty training is super hit and miss.  She shows a lot of interest but not enough to be consistent.   I know we need to push this more but she's pretty stubborn so I am treading carefully

- Asked for a squirrel for her birthday.  A live one.

- Best friends are Grady, Liberty, and Logan

- Still a great eater.  Her favorite things to request are popsicles and "pirates booties"

- Very into princesses, dress up, and accessorizing with earrings, necklaces, bracelets, crowns, shoes, and purses.  Her favorite princesses are Belle, Elsa, Ariel, and Rapunzel.  She's also perfecting her curtsy.

- Loves to have her "painnails" (fingernails) painted

- Is becoming more particular about what she wears

- Wears 3T tops, 2T bottoms, and size 7 shoes

- Is an amazing combination of sweet and sassy

- Will say "I'm a nice friend" when she does something nice or thoughtful for me

- Nicknames include Zo Zo, Ladybug, Little Bear, Sissy/Sis, and Peaches

My Zoey Grace, you keep us on our toes.  I am so lucky to be your mommy.  You have the sweetest heart that is sometimes full of sass.  I hope you are always a strong willed creature.  You bring us so much joy and laughter with your funny and dramatic personality, your animated expressions, and your love for the most ordinary things.  You truly are a one-of-a-kind.  Always remember that you are smart, kind, important, and beautiful.  I love you to the moon and stars, my little peach.

Camden is FIVE

Is it just me, or does this birthday seem like such a huge, huge milestone?  Maybe it's because my boy has been literally talking about turning five since the day he turned four.  He has grown up so much this past year, figuratively and physically - it has been the most bittersweet thing to watch.  I know I am incredibly biased, but he is one cool kid.

Weight: 34 pounds 6 ounces (9th percentile)
Height: 40 1/2 inches (11th percentile)

- Has become quite the sensitive little soul.  He gets scared and his feelings hurt easily yet is also very tough physically.  It's a weird combo

- Terrified of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.  I'm thankful I can tell him that we don't have hurricanes or tornadoes in our part of the country because he's constantly confirming those facts with me just to be sure

- I assure him there are no hurricanes and then he says, "But there is a hurricane in the Little Mermaid!" and so I assure him that the Little Mermaid is just a story and then the conversation goes off into this tangent about whether or not the Little Mermaid takes place in "our world" (aka the planet Earth)

- He's super particular about his socks being on super straight and not having "bumps."  His shoes also need to be really snug on his feet.  That said, he loves wearing his rain boots which are as lose as could be so this boggles my mind a bit

- Loves hot wheel cars and his Cars diecast cars, especially ones with spoilers

- Obsessed with seeing spoilers on actual cars and is always asking if we can buy an actual car with a spoiler on it

- Loves soccer, t-ball, basketball, gymnastics, bowling, and swimming

- Wears 4T/5T tops and 4T bottoms

- Speaking of bottoms, he really hates that his 4T bottoms are too big in the waist and too long in length and DOES NOT want his pant legs to touch his feet or shoes

- Is a seriously great big brother.  He is always asking to tuck Zoey into bed all by himself and is always asking if he can go wake her up

- Favorite thing to eat is peanut butter and jelly sandwiches

- We are having an on-going debate on who is faster - a cheetah or The Flash

- Is quite the spiritual little fellow, which is interesting to me because it's not something we discuss much at home.  He says his prayers every night without prompt or question and is quick to say that Jesus will keep him brave and safe if he's scared of the aforementioned natural disasters

- Went to Santa Cruz, California for the first time and I'm pretty sure he would have stayed there forever if we had let him.  While there I forced him to ride a log ride and I may have scarred him for life

- Favorite shows are PJ Masks, Paw Patrol, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Lion Guard, and Team Umizoomi

- Favorite movies are Cars 1, 2, and 3, Annie, How to Train Your Dragon, Peter Pan, Toy Story 1, 2, and 3, and The Little Mermaid

- Played his second season of YMCA t-ball with Mommy and Daddy and The Great Bambinos

- Played his second season of Tracyton Soccer with Mommy and Daddy and The Dragons

- Is perfecting his swimming and swims without a life jacket

- Seems to have a really good memory.  He can recall adventures, events, places we've visited, and conversations we've had with eerie accuracy

- Is very protective of his little sister

- He is the snuggliest of the snuggle bugs

- Tries to come up with any excuse in the world to not have to sleep in his bed and sleep in our bed.  He really hits me in the feelers when he says "but Mommy, I just want to snuggle with you" or "but Mommy, I just love you."  Other excuses are that he is afraid of bears or that moss is going to take over the city

- Obsessed with bath bombs and asking me to ask Siri how to say various words or phrases in Spanish and French

- Can count to 100

Camden James.  There really are no words to adequately describe how much I love you and how proud I am to be your Mommy.  Of course, I'm biased, but you are one super cool little guy.  You are smart, funny, outgoing, and very silly.  People that don't even know you are always commenting on your energy and your happy demeanor.  You asked me this morning if I could believe you are 5, and I honestly can't.  Being your mom is such a joy and privilege.  It truly is an honor.  I love you, my Super Cam.

Zoey at 2.5

Sweet Jesus, she's two and a half.  I seriously swear that she just turned two and cannot, cannot, cannot believe she's on her way to being three.  It's also crazy to me because this is how old Cam was when she was born, so I'm feeling lots of feelings right now.

Weight: 25 pounds 4 ounces (13th percentile)
Height: 35 inches (38th percentile)
Head Circumference: 18 inches (5th percentile)

Her 2.5 year well check up went something like this: she's tiny with above average speech and below average bowel movement frequency

- Loves to say "Mommy guess what... I got a surprise for you" and then usually tells me it's an (invisible) cake pop

- Loves chocolate milk and popsicles

- Steals my La Croix

- Still puts all the things in her mouth.  I'm really waiting (impatiently) for her to grow out of this trait

- Wears almost all 2T clothing except for pants - 18/24 month bottoms fit her best.  Although, her little badonkadonk makes bottoms a challenge at times

- Has so much sass, attitude, and drama in her little body

- Flo is her soulmate

- Still has her Kiki (binky) but will be losing said friend at the end of December when I'm off of work for a whole week and can deal with her wrath and any potential sleep deprivation

- Learning more colors

- Does not shy away from strangers and is always telling people, "I Zoey.  I fwee (three)."

- Best friends are Grady and Liberty

- Nicknames include Zo Zo, Beautiful, Little Bear or Baby Bear, Peaches, Little Peach, Drama Llama, and Sassy Pants

Zoey Grace, you rock our world.  I am so lucky to be your mommy... Even when you're yelling at me and telling me that I'm bad.  You have the sweetest heart that is sometimes full of sass.  I hope you are always a strong willed creature.  You bring us so much joy and laughter with your funny and dramatic personality.  There truly is no one like you.  Always remember that you are smart, kind, important, and beautiful.  I love you to the moon and stars, my little peach.

Cam at 4.5

Seriously, I swear he just turned 4 and now six months have passed.  He's officially closer to 5 than 4!  Just ask him because he will proudly tell you that his birthday is "really soon."  Why does 5 seem so much older than 4?  I feel like I'm constantly telling him to stop growing and that I want him to stay my little buddy forever.  He laughs at me (literally) and just keeps on growing and becoming more awesome.

- Favorite shows are Blaze, Paw Patrol, Wild Kratts, PJ Masks, and Bubble Guppies

- Favorite movies are How to Train Your Dragon, Wreck it Ralph, Trolls, Moana, and Incredibles

- Loves to "bake cookies" with me but is mostly only interested in measuring and stirring ingredients

- Becomes a philosophical pooper every night at bedtime.  Anything to delay to inevitable bedtime - including "needing to check the weather"

- Asks for chocolate milk and blueberry muffins everyday for breakfast

- Played his second season of YMCA soccer for Mommy and Daddy and the Blue Dragons

- Loves to ride his "bike with training wheels" and his "scooter with no training wheels"

- Will complete his second year of preschool next week.  One more year and then he'll be off to Kindergarten

- Is the cuddliest cuddle bug.  He loves to climb in our bed

- Hasn't slept past 6am in I don't even know how long.  Every morning he comes in and says "Mommy is it time to wake up yet?" and when I say "no," he responds with "but I'm ready to be awake."

- Now has two dogs - Coco (because we said he couldn't name her "Hot Chocolate") and Raph (because his love for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles runs deep)

- Went to Disneyland and Michigan for the second time

- His favorite people in the world are Mommy, Daddy, Grammy, Papa, Ray Ray, Chris, and Uncle Joshy.

Zoey is TWO

Zoey Grace is two and I can hardly believe it.  Time is flying by and I am way more emotional about her turning two than I was about Cam.  Probably because when he turned two I was newly-pregnant and so I knew we'd get to do this again.  Now, I'm almost fairly certain that this is our last go-round and so I'm a blubbering mess of feelings.

Weight: 24 pounds 1 ounce (35th percentile)
Height: 32 1/2 inches (30th percentile)
Head Circumference: 17 3/4 inches (6th percentile)

- This tiny girl is like a switch.  She has one speed - on or off.  She is fearless, has so much energy, into everything, and constantly pushing the boundaries and limits

- Talks very well for her age, which is nice because she can tell us what she wants but is also not nice because she can tell us what she wants

- Wears mostly 18-24 month clothing and 2T tops.  She's like her brother and longer on the top half than she is the bottom half

- Sassy doesn't even begin to describe the attitude that's packed into this little body

- Flo is still her soulmate and she grows more and more attached to Kiki (her elephant binky) every single day

- Gets immense joy from breaking crayons with her teeth and chewing up the tidbits

- Favorite movies are Moana, Trolls, and Frozen

- Dances and sings like nobody's business.  Her favorite songs to sing are "Let it Go," "Twinkle, Twinkle," "ABCs," and pretty much any song from Moana

- Can count to 14 or 15 - depends on the day and her mood

- Can identify the colors blue, orange, and pink

- Loves to put on clothes that aren't hers and loves to accessorize with necklaces and bracelets

- Is a much better eater than Cam ever was (or is).  She'd eat an entire container of berries if I let her

- Has a flair for the dramatic and has become quite the sympathy crier

- Is still a little snuggle bug and loves to give hugs and kisses

- Has become quite possessive over Mommy and Miss Bree (a daycare provider and babysitter)

- Went to Disneyland and Michigan for the first time

- Is obsessed with "shnapstick" (chapstick), juice, sticking out her tongue, brushing her teeth, wearing "glubs" (gloves), and going swimming at the YMCA

- Hates the moment in between a shirt or sweatshirt going over her head and after her head pops through the hole

- Had her first major injury when she fell out of the shopping cart at Home Depot and hit her head on the concrete floor.  She very briefly lost conciousness and we took an ambulance right to the Emergency Room where a CT showed that she had a concussion and fracture in her skull

- Favorite people in the world include Mommy, Daddy, Bubba, Grammy, Papa, Ray Ray, Chris, Miss Bree, and Uncle Joshy

- Best friends are Grady and Liberty

- Nicknames include Zo Zo, Beautiful, Little Bear, Peaches, and Little Peach.  Sometimes I call her "little asshole" or "little shit" under my breath but I wouldn't count those as official nicknames

Zoey Grace.  Words cannot describe how happy it makes me and how grateful I am to be your mommy.  I have loved seeing you grow into the sassy and sweet little bug that you've become.  You truly are a joy to be around (at least most of the time) and your daddy, bubba, and I simply adore you.  My greatest hope is that you grow up to be a strong woman, who believes that her worth is not determined by what is on the outside - but on the inside.  Watching you grow is incredibly bittersweet and I can't wait to see what you have to offer this world.  You are a force to be reckoned with.  Always remember that you are smart, kind, important, and beautiful.  I love you to the moon and stars, my little bear.

Cam is FOUR

I truly feel like I was just talking about Cam being 3.5.  Now, here we are and he's four.  FOUR!!!  And as he was very quick to remind me, "four is almost five!"

Man, do I love this kid.  And truth be told - I have heard horror stories of the "three's."  But to be honest - I loved (almost) every minute of Camden James as a three year old.  I know I am biased and President of the Camden Fan Club, but he is one cool dude.

Weight: 32 pounds (17th percentile)
Height: 38 inches (9th percentile)

- loves to go bowling at All Star Lanes

- has started to accept Wii Bowling at home as an alternative if it just doesn't work to go to All Star Lanes

- the Wii has also introduced him to sword fighting and I am so thankful for an activity that keeps him quiet but exhausts him all at the same time

- he got Track Master Sky High Bridge Jump for his birthday and he through the roof excited.  Just ask him about it.  Or don't because he will talk so fast that you will hear "Sky Bridge" and not understand anything else.

- is a Comet at gymnastics and absolutely adores his coach, Sam

- would eat 15 Z-bars a day if I let him

- is super snuggle and cuddly

- says "I love you, Mommy," about 10 times a day

- talks about having "missing teeth" when he's big boy

- taking on more responsibilities like putting his trash in the garbage, putting his dirty dishes in the sink, turning lights off when leaving a room, and dressing himself

- wears 4T tops, 3T bottoms, and size 8 shoes

- loves to sing and dance

I asked him if I could "interview" him, and after explaining what an "interview" was - he obliged.

Favorite color: Purple
Favorite movie: Moana
Favorite TV show: PJ Masks
Favorite animal: Elephant and giraffe
Favorite book: Big Book of Trains
What do you want to be when you grow up?: Police officer
Who is your best friend?: Monroe

Favorite food: veggie straws
Favoriate drink: chocolate milk

Zoey - 15 Months

It goes without saying that I'm in a bit of denial over this 15 months business.  She just turned one, right?!

Weight: 19 pounds 3.4 ounces (21st percentile)
Height: 30.5 inches (49th percentile)
Head Circumference: 17.5 inches (19th percentile)

I am a terrible mother and didn't document Cam's 15 month stats, but something tells me he was bigger in all aspects.

- Wears mostly 12 month clothing.

- The happiest of the happy babies.

- Has discovered running.

- Continues to climb on everything despite being told not to.

- Favorite toys are balls, baby dolls, Flo, and anything that Cam is trying to play with.

- Has no fear.  Of anything.

- Destructor of anything in her path.

- Is a dancing queen.

- Has eight sharp teeth.

- I swear her hair grows inches overnight.

- Loves to eat and steal food.  She also loves to feed anyone within arm's length and Sonny.

- Is super vocal and chatty.  Says mama, dada/daddy, bubba, papa, gaga, Fo (Flo), thank you, hi, bye, wa dat (what's that), outside, ball, shoes, uh oh, ow, ouch, kitty, doggy.

- If you say "one, two..." she will say "eeeeeeee!"
-Can point to her head, nose, and ears.

- Really loves to give kisses and neck-squeezing hugs.

- Loves wearing hats, jackets, and shoes.

- Is drawn to boys/men over girls/women.

- Shakes her head "no" when she doesn't want something.

- Points to the refrigerator when she wants milk.

- Waves to any and all strangers.

- Genuine heart-melter.

- Adores her big brother more than ever.  Seriously, their relationship is beyond adorable and I am trying to cherish every minute.

Camden at 3.5

Cam is three and a half today.

Three. And. A. Half.

As in getting further away from three and closer to four.  I don't know why but "four" just seems and sounds so old to me and so much older than three.

Last June, when he turned two and a half, Zoey was fresh and I unknowingly let the day go by without documentation and I was really mad at myself for it.  So, here I am to tell you about my favorite three and a half year old little human.

No fun stats because his pediatrician sure doesn't give a rip about his half birthday, but he weighs a solid 30 pounds and I swear he's growing like a little weed.  This is evidenced by his 2T pants finally starting to look a tiny bit short.  Thank goodness it's almost summer and he can live in shorts.

In no particular order, here are some things I want to remember about Cam at three and a half years old:

- is all of a sudden super into "boy" things like digging and playing in the dirt, searching for ants and other bugs, "playing fight," and using potty words like "poo poo"

- will finish his first year of preschool next week

- knows the American Sign Language alphabet and can sign his name

- can write almost all of his (capital) letters

- can write and spell his name

- loves to talk about the planets and watch "the sun song"

- loves to help with laundry (moving it from washer to dryer) and recycling

- favorite shows are PJ Masks, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Paw Patrol, Bubble Guppies, and Dora the Explorer

- favorite movies are The Good Dinosaur, Pocahontas, Toy Story, Despicable Me 2, The Minion Movie, Mater's Tall Tales, and Wreck It Ralph

- has recently discovered Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles thanks to surfing YouTube Kids

- kills me with some of the things he says and conversations we have

- for now, loves his sister more than I could have ever hoped

- likes to be told stories before bed and they all start with "once upon a time, there was a little boy named Camden..."

- after he is told a story or two, he likes to be the story teller and starts his story with "once upon a time, there was a little boy named Camden, so Camden..." and it's usually a repeat of the story I already told.  Or about a t-rex.

- has gotten so good at front toss that we can no longer play in the house because I am afraid he is going to break something

- takes swim lessons on Friday nights (Super Pike) and is in the pool without me.  He really likes to wear his goggles but they are usually perched on his forehead and not actually covering his eyes

- plays on a 3-4 year old YMCA soccer team that practices Monday nights and plays games on Saturday mornings.  I am the coach and it has been an absolute blast. We have a hard time getting all the kids to show up for games and he tends to get tired or bored (or both?) during the second half and you will find him sitting or laying on the grass instead of participating

- his favorite thing about soccer is getting to play Duck, Duck, Goose at the end of practice

- his favorite person is probably his Papa

- would eat 20 packages of fruit snacks a day if I let him

- is still so snuggly and loves to cuddle

- at night before I leave his room we give each other five kisses: butterfly, eskimo, forehead, nose, and a smooch

As always, I feel incredibly grateful that I get to be his mommy.

Camden is THREE

I can't even really believe I just typed the words "Camden is three."  In some ways the last year went really slowly (thanks in part to being pregnant with Zoey) and in other ways it completely flew by and I feel like I was just reflecting on (and crying about) him turning two.

I still haven't learned that this growing up business is hard.

I just now realized that because Zoey was two weeks old when Cam turned two and a half, I didn't write a post going into all the details of him at that time.  I'm sure you didn't miss it but right now I'm kicking myself for not putting something down.

Anyway, at three years old - (and I know I am biased) he is quite the little man child.

Weight: 27 pounds (7th percentile)
Height: 25 inches (5th percentile)

I wasn't kidding when I said he was little.  He hasn't grown much since his two and a half year check, but at this point the doctor isn't concerned.  His growth record thus far has proven that he's not going to be a big kid.

In no particular oder, here are some things I want to remember about Cam at three years old:

- still dumps out his entire bucket of trains/cars/blocks only to walk away minutes later to play with something else

- loves to sing songs

- started preschool in September and this has only fostered his love for singing

- favorite shows are Bubble Guppies, Dora the Explorer, and Paw Patrol

- favorite movies are Toy Story 3, Wreck it Ralph, Frozen, The Lion King, Despicable Me 2, The Minion Movie, and just recently - The Polar Express

- favorite books are The Polar Express, I'm a Dirty Dinosaur, The Three Little Pigs, The Day the Crayons Quit, Big Book of Big Trains, and Little Miss Muffet

- is quite the talker.  I think he surprises people some times because he looks younger than he is (because of his size) but then they hear him talk.

- gets very excited when talking some times and says "and, and, and, and, and, and..." in-between words.

- loves his little sister fiercely

- wants his tummy and back softly scratched every night before bed

- favorite toys are Cars cars, Thomas and Chuggington trains, and any ball he can get his hands on

- is really fast (running) and coordinated (running, jumping, hitting balls)

- loves to hit, play catch, play basketball, and play soccer -- even if it's in the house

- takes swim lessons on Tuesday and Thursday nights.  He loves to jump in the way swim up to the surface (on his own!) but only if I'm right there for him to swim to and there to grab when he pokes his head up.

- takes gymnastics class/lessons on Saturday mornings and I think this has really helped his coordination

- is day time potty trained and hasn't had any accidents since we finished our three (four for us!) day potty training method.  I'm knocking on wood right now.

- likes to tell people they're his best friend and these "best friends" change daily - usually between mommy, daddy, grammy, papa, Auntie Rachel, and Rachel's boyfriend, Chris

- still in quite the smuggler and loves to back up into my lap to sit down

Cam, some days you drive me absolutely bonkers.  But at the end of each day, I feel very lucky that I get to be your mommy and get to watch you grow into the cool little dude that you are.  You are sweet and kind (most of the time), sensitive, busy and inquisitive, smart, funny, and a future force to be reckoned with on the athletic field.  I cannot believe you are three years old today.  Here's me wishing you the best year yet.  I love you to the moon and the stars.
